TEA SELECTION: EARL GREY CREAM

Interesting Highlights:

Someone did their homework and knew I was an Earl Grey lover, in fact I’ve reviewed over 100 Earl Grey’s alone.  Good Job Tea Guys!  🙂

Ingredients:

organic rooibos, oil of bergamot, roasted chicory, orange zest, flavors, vanilla, sea salt, citric acid, malic acid.

Review:

Interesting combination using a rooibos instead of the traditional black tea, honestly it lacked nothing as a traditional Earl Grey, it was a bit on the medicinal side of taste and at first it was a bit smoky flavored but as it rolled around the tongue it melted into that familiar Earl Grey with the creme body.  Slightly bitter which is normal with an Earl and the orange added a very nice citrus flavor.  Unique in ingredients.

Cost: $7.35 / 3 oz.

Price may vary according to the amount purchased.

TEA SELECTION: WATERMELON LIME AND BASIL

Interesting Highlights:

Do you remember fruit soda’s?

Ingredients:

apples, rosehips, organic green tea, hibiscus, pomegranate, carrots, organic lemon myrtle, watermelon seeds, flavors, lime pieces, lemon peel, basil, lime juice, lemon juice, stevia, sea salt, citric acid, malic acid..

Review:

It took me a few sips to remind me of what this tea tasted like, however it too the memory was of a fruit soda or fruit drink.  It’s a light flavored tea and not sour like most teas that encompass fruits as their main ingredients.  I’s smooth and enjoyable like a beautiful summer day.  Serve this with watermelon and I bet it would be exquisite.

Cost: $7.95 / 3 oz.

Price may vary according to the amount purchased.

TEA SELECTION: POMEGRANATE PEAR AND GINGER

Interesting Highlights:

Seasonal available April – June

Ingredients:

apple, rosehips, hibiscus, elderberries, ginger, pomegranate, flavors, pear, lime juice, sea salt, citric acid, malic acid.

Review:

No ginger bite, that is always what I look for in a tea that spouts ginger and this tea does not have it, ti’s  slightly sour with a nice mix or fruits.  If you are looking for that hot ginger flavor it’s not here and that is good for people who want ginger but not the spiciness it brings to most mixes.

Cost: $7.99 / box of tea bags

Price may vary according to the amount purchased.

TEA SELECTION: CHAI POWDER

Interesting Highlights:

Seasonal available April – June

Ingredients:

hibiscus, apple, crystallized ginger, green tea, pomegranate, elderberry, black tea, rhubarb, lemon peel, peppermint, lime zest, lime juice, sumac, raspberry, honey, vanilla, sea salt, rosemary, beet powder, citric acid, malic acid.

Review:

This was REALLY interesting, at first I made it like a tea and it was a bit too much for me, so then I made it like a drink and it’s flavor was amazingly strong and bitter, then, I made it with milk, heated and WOW, right on and where it was supposed to be.  I don’t always follow directions when I review and I like to sample things in different ways.  This is a strong chai mix and I also think it could be incorporated into recipes as well.  It’s seasonal and not available right now but when it is if you are a foodie I think you should experiment with this Chai mix as well.

Cost: $7.99 / box of tea bags

Price may vary according to the amount purchased.

SPECIAL NOTE:

While I do love these teas and Tea Guys produce a great variety of teas I’d love to see the teas contain less citric and malic acids.  I’ve never been a fan of those ingredients or the use of “flavorings” in anything really there is just too wide of a margin that is allowed by the FDA with that ingredient.
